I only installed Agent about 3 hours or so ago so I'll apologise up
front if this is a stupid question.

I think I've now got the system set-up pretty much as I want it except
for one thing. Agent automatically connects to my mail servers at
regular intervals but I can see no way to tell it to do the same for
the Usenet server(s).

Is retrieving messages from Usenet a manual-only operation or have I
missed an option somewhere?

Thanks.

It's a manual operation.

Ah that's a shame, I wonder why. Still, I suppose ^H Enter isn't so
hard.

Thanks Jamie.

Yes.

Why? If you have been using Newsgroups before you would know that
some groups have 1k+ posts/hr. If you had automated download you
would have a hard time keeping up, depending on which groups you
subscribe/monitor.

I have a hard time keeping up with the political groups I monitor just
loading headers once a day.

By the way I just looked this up (after all these years using
Newsgroups):

Why what? Why do I think it is a shame there's no automated download
of Usenet postings?

It's a shame because it is a feature I have become used to using and
I'm going to miss it. It's a feature I would have liked to continue to
use, would find useful and would have switched on. You obviously
wouldn't find it useful and would, presumably, have it switched off.
That's OK, we're all different.

Oh lordy, I have seen the light! Thanks Swifty.

If this feature is important enough to you, you could use an
add-on automation program to push Agent's buttons.
